HDoujin Downloader Update (Ver 1.14.9.32)

New features include Mangafox watermark removal (leave a comment if there are any other sites you use that have an annoying watermark on their images), the ability to view the current session’s download statistics, the updated scripting system (which can be used both to manually add new sites and to define tokens), and “Downloading” as a default download status (downloads are run immediately after being added to the queue), among other things (see the full list of changes below).

This version also includes an updated Indonesian language file (thanks to Stemzha!), and fixes for g.e-hentai.org/exhentai.org that allow you to make use of whatever enhanced viewing privileges you might have when downloading content.

There are some requested features that didn’t make it into this release, but they’re on my to-do list. I know I’ve been saying this for a while, but I’ve been pretty busy, and I’m doing my best to keep up with everyone’s requests. I’ve received a surprising amount of feature requests for Kuroneko Reader and Manga Database (I had no idea they were as popular as they are), and I’ll do my best to implement those as soon as possible!

Also, I’ve got some big plans for upcoming releases, including Booru support, an (optional) manga-list style interface (as some people prefer that over adding URLs), and a Mono version of the program. If any of these things really interest you, leave a comment so I can adjust their priorities accordingly.

HDoujin Downloader Update (Ver 1.14.9.30)

This month has seen a lot of updates! Many fixes have been applied (the most important being for Pururin and E-Hentai), 16 new sites have been added (in a variety of languages), and many new features are present, including:

509 detection for g.e-hentai.org/exhentai.org
The program is now capable of detecting 509 images from g.e-hentai.org/exhentai.org, and will automatically wait until normal downloading can be resumed (this can be enabled/disabled under “Site-Specific Settings”).

File size verification
It’s now possible to verify the size of downloaded images in the event a download is interrupted and doesn’t complete successfully. If the file size doesn’t match the one on the website, the program will attempt to fix the partially-downloaded file (this can be enabled/disabled under “Settings > Downloads > Queuing”).

Sub-directories for folder formatting strings
The use of sub-directories is now supported in the folder formatting string. It is now possible, for example, to sort downloads in folders based on the artist or author (e.g.: “%ARTIST||AUTHOR%\%TITLE%”), and this functionality can be combined with the use of user-created custom tokens to sort downloads in whatever way you please!

For those of you who might be interested, there’s another update on the way that will completely rework the scripting system to greatly increase its functionality, and will make it much easier to use and understand. Soon, it will be incredibly easy to manually add support for whatever site you want (and as always, I’m open to requests).

Update (Ver 1.13.9.28) + Important Information

Hey guys. As most of you probably know already, I’ve been back for a while, making sure that everyone’s feature requests/bug reports are taken care of. I can proudly say that there’s only one feature that’s been requested that I haven’t yet implemented (but you should see it later today).

Also, you may have noticed that the XP version is no more– the two versions have finally been consolidated into a single unit! No longer shall there be a gap between what updates are present in each version.

Now, here’s the big news, and I’m definitely going to get some flak for this, but hear me out: Soon, HDoujin Downloader will no longer be entirely free. Depending on when you’re reading this post, the changes may already be in place.

But don’t get too disappointed just yet.

I’ve made sure that the current version is completely up-to-date with everyone’s suggestions/comments. This version will remain freely available on the site, so you don’t have to worry. However, I won’t be updating this version anymore unless it’s rendered broken or unusable for some reason (I wouldn’t be so mean as to just ignore that).

As for why I’m doing this: I put a lot of time and effort into making sure HDoujin Downloader works as perfectly as possible. I know how hard it is to find a decent doujin/manga downloader that does everything you want it to, which is why I take requests so seriously. And I love doing that. And I want to keep doing that. But like everyone else, I’ve got debts and loans to pay off, and working on this constantly is becoming less and less viable. This isn’t much of a shock, but very, very few people choose to donate (which is fine; I mean, not everyone can, which is why I’m willing to make exceptions for people who can’t pay [more on this later]).

If you have donated, regardless of the amount, just send me an email and I’ll give you the paid version for free. The same goes for anyone who contributed to the project (translation, etc). But if that doesn’t work for you, and you want your contribution revoked for any reason, let me know.

The only limitation that will be present in future releases of the free version will be that you’re limited to 25 downloads per day. All other features will remain enabled.

“So then, why should I bother updating? I’ll just stick with the current version.”

Good question. Future versions will, of course, be kept up-to-date as sites change, and I’ll continue to add support for more and more sites, in addition to new features (the paid version will already have a few extra things when it’s released). It will also (optionally) come with Kuroneko Reader and Manga Database, two new programs I’ve been working on that work exactly like their names would imply. I’ll post more information about them at a later date.

“What if I can’t use PayPal, or my country of origin/personal circumstances make it impossible for me to pay?”

Email me. We’ll work something out. If it’s just a matter of being unable to use PayPal, let me know what you can use, and we’ll go from there.

Hentai Doujin Downloader Update (Ver 1.13.9.27)

It’s been a long time since the last officially-announced update. I was planning to do a few more things before this, but I’m going to very busy over the next couple of weeks. Because of this, I may be very slow with responding to bug reports/suggestions. I’ve made sure to address every single comment and email you guys have left for me, so hopefully that keeps everyone satisfied for the time being.

One big thing to note is the change to how content is displayed on Fakku (kudos to Sniper for making me aware of this), where manga/doujins with certain tags aren’t view-able until you’re logged in (and enable viewing of the associated tags; existing accounts have this enabled by default– see the link for more information).  To download this material, you’ll need to add Fakku login information under Settings > Downloads > Site-Specific Settings.

Hentai Doujin Downloader Update (Ver 1.11.9.25)

Sorry to everyone I kept waiting for this update– I always try my best to fix all problems within 24 hours, but I was working on a couple of new things that I needed to finish before putting out another release, which caused a little bit of a delay. Also, I only just noticed that some of your guys’ comments got marked as spam– don’t think I was ignoring them! If I take too long to respond and you think I didn’t see your comment, don’t hesitate to email me.

On that note, when reporting a problem to me, please provide a link to whatever you’re having trouble downloading. Often times it’s a problem with a specific set of webpages rather than the entire website, and sending me a link makes it so I don’t have to download a bunch of things to find out what the problem might be.

Anyway: The biggest new feature present in this update is the ability to use your g.e-hentai.org account when downloading, something that was requested a long time ago that I only got around to doing now. It’s not perfect at the moment, but it’s usable. Please let me know if you have any problems.

In addition to that, I’ve also added something extra that has been heavily requested. I won’t state directly just what that is right now for certain reasons, but I know a lot of you will appreciate it if you figure it out.

Lastly, I know I say this a lot, but thank you to everyone for your support so far. I love getting bug reports from you guys, because every bug fixed brings this tool one step closer to being perfect– not to mention all the pleasant acquaintances I’ve made through such interactions. ♥
